Platform Doors - North East, Circle & Downtown lines

Good early morning, with a day to go to my National Service, here's another update. This time, I am showcasing platform screen doors on the North East and Downtown lines. The platform doors on the North East Line are unique among the Singapore MRT, with special warning notifications atop the doors. It took hours to investigate the Chinese and Tamil text on it.

It also has a special icon of the C751A train pasted on the glass. Here's what the platform doors look like in a row. It's the the most beautiful symmetry I admire, especially when they open and close simultaneously, coupled together with the whooshing sound.

Sadly, the platform doors of the subsequent Circle and Downtown lines did not emulate this practice. They seemed more fragile with their sleek look, and ever operates slightly slower. The Downtown Line added a strip of blue above the doors and revamped the format of the directional signboards.

In my opinion, the new Downtown Line format is worst than the former "to terminal" boards. It's hard to tell at a glance which platform to head towards as the maps are too tiny from a distance. Perhaps LTA should alternate directional boards and maps to improve the situation.

I will be posting half height platform screen doors and other cities versions in future. Check back for updates.

Until next time, see ya.
